Well, this 9-year-old girl certainly has a story!! She is a very unusual breed (Selkirk Rex) to find in rescue. She came to us a little over a year ago from a shelter in east TN where she had been surrendered by her person who had become homeless and they were living in his car together. Prior to that, she had been living in a house where they were, shall we say manufacturing substances that now result in you showing identification to buy Sudafed... Her person was very aware of her food sensitivity to chicken and the only option he could muster was beef Alpo (which we will admit was rather creative given his unfortunate circumstances). He finally realized that he couldn't care for her and surrendered her. They tried very hard to help her at the shelter but they didn't have the resources. They reached out and we agreed to give it a try. Her fur was gone, her skin was nothing but scabs, and she had horrific uncontrolled diarrhea. She was in one of our East TN foster homes for a while but we realized we needed to get her down here in order to really focus on figuring out what was going on if there was any hope of ending her misery. It has taken months and months of trial and error and testing and patience (on the part of her foster family) to help this girl. And why do you think we would all do this... because she is the sweetest cat who ever walked this planet!!! We are serious! It was simply not possible to give up on her. She would not allow it! Her joie de vivre is beyond compare and contagious! We knew that if she wasn't giving up, how could we possibly. Finally, we started seeing glimmers of hope that provided important information. It is critical to understand that you cannot so much as even utter the word chicken in her presence!! You cannot dream about chicken! You cannot pass a KFC on your way to the vet!! No pollo para Daizy! Nope, no way! She MUST stay on a very strict prescription diet and cannot have a crumb of anything else. If this is not something you can achieve in your household, please do not apply. We have worked too hard for too long to risk this. She is also on slippery elm daily, but it is very easy to give, and very inexpensive, so no biggie there. Now, on to the obvious... how is it possible for the sweetest cat in the world to also be the most beautiful?! We know!! We ask ourselves the same thing! Those curly locks are growing more luscious by the day and that smile!!! It makes the Mona Lisa's look blasé. Update 1: They are both doing very well and are still so loving to each other. 

Update 2: We would love to foster but are afraid The Bolshevik Bengal and the Revolutionary Ragdoll would not tolerate them. The only time they get angry is if they see one of the local cats outside. (Are you sure they are Tudors? They do have a certain Russianness to them and are not afraid to take hostages!) They are delightfully gentle and kind with each other and us, just have zero tolerance for the neighbor cat.
