This precious three-year-old girl was surrendered by her family who no longer wanted her to an animal control shelter where she, unfortunately, tested positive for FeLV (don't worry, she is actually negative). The shelter is not able to adopt out positive kitties and so the rescue army deployed for her. Fortunately, her plea made it to us. We have come to realize that the FIV/FeLV snap test has a reasonably high rate of false positives, so we reached out to this wonderfully cooperative shelter (they didn't want to euthanize her any more than anyone else did, but that is the fate of most FeLV positive kitties in shelters). We talked to them about the options and in the end, they agreed to retest her with serum (more accurate than whole blood) and we are thrilled to report that she is NEGATIVE! We tell you this story to help educate folks but also for you all to realize how very close to death this young, sweet, healthy, playful and friendly girl came! Now all she needs is a loving forever home with a family who will never put her life at risk again! If you would like to have this wonderful girl in your life, contact us at FLUFFinfo@gmail.com.

Update 1: They are both doing very well and are still so loving to each other. Update 2: We would love to foster but are afraid The Bolshevik Bengal and the Revolutionary Ragdoll would not tolerate them. The only time they get angry is if they see one of the local cats outside. (Are you sure they are Tudors? They do have a certain Russianness to them and are not afraid to take hostages!) They are delightfully gentle and kind with each other and us, just have zero tolerance for the neighbor cat. |
